Offset Portfolio Update: Dec 2024

Commons users have the opportunity to offset their carbon emissions through the monthly Climate Steward Subscription, flight offsets, and one-time gifts. The community supports a diverse set of proven climate solutions through the Commons Offset Portfolio.

We're excited to announce that since April 2021, the Commons community has supported over 76,110 tons of carbon offsets.

Here are some updates on our portfolio from the past few months:

Portfolio Update: Goodbye to Eion (for now!)

‍

Carbon dioxide is naturally captured over hundreds of thousands of years when rocks erode and react with the air. Eion speeds up this process by crushing rock and working with U.S. farmers to spread it on their lands.

‍

As early buyers of Eion’s carbon offtakes, our community was integral in helping it reach its next stage: Scale. Over the next few years, Eion will ramp up its carbon removal efforts through fewer deals secured with larger partners.

We’re proud of all that the Eion team has accomplished, and to have played a catalytic part in their journey. We hope to reintroduce them into the portfolio again down the line!

As we’ve sold our inventory of Eion credits, purchases made after December 2024 will include a higher percentage of credits from another partner in our portfolio, Charm Industrial.

More Partners in the Commons Climate Portfolio

‍Delta Blue Carbon: Delta Blue Carbon supports the restoration and protection of 350,000 hectares of degraded mangroves and coastal wetlands in Pakistan.
Charm Industrial: Charm Industrial turns inedible crop residue into carbon-rich bio-oil, then pumps it into underground disposal wells, where it’s stored safely and permanently.
‍Pachama: Pachama verifies and monitors carbon offset projects using satellite imagery and machine learning.
