New at Commons: Spend Sustainably with EV Charging
EV sales are growing fast. From 2017 to 2022, EV sales jumped from 1 million to 10 million. Between 2015 and 2020, the number of EVSE ports in the U.S. more than doubled. Among the tens of thousands of people using Commons to track their sustainable spending, we saw a 112% increase in EV charging from 2021 to 2022.
To better support the EV transition, we’re excited to announce improvements to the calculation of EV drivers using Commons.
We’ve updated our algorithm to recognize transactions from 5 major EV chargers: Tesla Superchargers, Chargepoint, Blink, EVgo, and Electrify America.
Now, you’ll see new transactions from these vendors marked as sustainable purchases in the app, and these purchases will have lower carbon footprints.
If you’ve purchased charging from these companies in the past, you can go into your transactions in the Footprint tab and change the category to “Electric Vehicle charging” into order update the purchases to get the “low emissions” tag and reflect the most accurate footprint.
Browse Sustainable Transportation Companies
Whether you’re looking for an EV charging company, local transit, or electric scooters, the Transportation section of the Brands tab has dozens of low-carbon ways to get around. Any purchase from the brands (or any of Commons’ sustainable brands) will be marked with lower emissions.
